I don't know what love means. Whether it's caring for someone, understanding someone, being there for someone, looking into someone's eyes and seeing your entire life with him/her or not being able to live without someone - I'm not really sure if love is one of these or a mixture of everything above.
At times it seems like a an emotion that has been used far too easily without the respect it deserves. I've seen friends being crazy about someone, trusting him and then being used. No, my friends weren't stupid - the people they were with were too smart and extremely disgusting. I've seen relationships falling apart for the silliest of reasons. I've seen broken people - just because someone else was selfish enough to break away.
So today, when love seems to be in the air, I wonder how people fall 'out of love'. One day you promise the stars, the next day you say you don't love the other anymore. One day, you want to spend all your 'valentines' with the 'most beautiful person on earth' and your love is 'carved in stone', the next day you can't stand his/her face. One day, you can't live without this person, the next, you can't live without someone else?
Sometimes circumstances and time makes you fall apart. There you have to console yourself and to live your life happily you need to make space. In such cases, there's always a small place in the heart thats left exclusively for that person, but then life moves on, so do you. But how does a person madly in love with someone suddenly falls madly in love with someone else? And I really mean suddenly.
I know there may be hundreds of possible answers to these questions. We've all faced/seen/heard about them sometime or the other. Some would say people change. Some would say, people like change!
But isn't love too special and too beautiful to change so easily?
Ah, love! At one point or the other we all fall in love. And most of us, fall out or are made to fall out too. And we all say, 'Its for the best'. Is it just consoling or is it true?
Hmm, Happy Valentines Day! May you never have to fall out of love and may this always be for the best :)
Lol! Nice post! I have to blogroll your blog!
ReplyDeleteSo love... hmmm.. I think that when you can so easily be with one person at one point of time and in the next second be wth someone else, it's lust and not love.. I think that the definition or nature of love changes with time and age... kids nowadays, in college and school, only define love in terms of who buys the girl more number of gifts etc... But I think, or atleast hope, that as people mature, they "love" someone because of their own qualities and not because of how they make them feel... coz anyone can come by and make you feel better about yourself, but you have to guard against drifting like that!
Ooooh my God! Havent written such a long comment in a long time! Obviously LOVE and Bhalentine Day really push my buttons!! Lol!
@still searching: thanks...it makes my day :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not too sure if its lust always..but yes, it could be one of the reasons. And dont even get me started on the concept of love thats being followed by the 'kids' today!although this makes me feel like im 70, but im glad ive atleast got this right.
well love like opinions differs for each person...
ReplyDeleteI think in most cases its circumstances that CAN make u fall out of love..
but if they can SUDDENLY start loving someone else..then it wasn't love in the first place..
but even a little love is precious in this woebegone forlorn world..
grab what u've got with both hands...and be very thankful for it..
i personally feel we don't need a valentines day to celebrate our love...of any kind...
all relationships are to be celebrated every time the heart demands it...
I hate the whole Valentines day thingy!!
ReplyDeleteOne doesnt need a day to celebrate love
-I
@sneha: probably u r right...but i dont agree with the lust part. its not always true.
ReplyDeleteguess people are too much into trial n error these days!
@impressionist: really? i find it cute...y do we celebrate birthday? we dont need a day to celebrate life. hardly matters...just another day to feel special and receive giftss!!!
in or out, it still is falling. i wonder why they call it that. i've never understood it.
ReplyDeleteWell Birthdays and anniversaries are different than valentines day.
ReplyDeleteI mean U celebrate Birthdays because many years ago u were born on that day. and anniversaries can represent anything. marriage anniversary or any other. u celebrate that day because it marks a special day in ur life.
but How does valentines day play any role here? I mean if u had fallen in love with someone on that day then there is a point in celebrating it, saying u 2 fell in love on that day so u celebrate valentines day as an anniversary. But celebrating it just because everyone does is meaningless! Someone else started it and u people are just celebrating it. Does valentines day mark any special occasion in ur life?
-I
@dharmabum: yeah...and u keep tumbling down every so often!
ReplyDelete@impressionist: ok...so y do we celebrate diwali/christmas/eid??
that apart...sometimes in life we run out of reasons to celebrate and it becomes so monotonous...i guess v-day is just another occasion to celebrate.
neway, im not such a staunch follower!!!i didnt do nething myself..but i kinda like the feeling of this day...its sweet :)
maybe u shud read History! :D
ReplyDeleteU will know why people celebrate those festivals! :D
-I
ya man....it's the worst feeling in the whole wide world when someone u love falls out of love with u....yet the best feeling in the whole wide world when u fall in love.....and when u fall in love for the 2nd time, u actually thank ur stars the 1st person fell out of love with u else u wud've never found this 2nd person....the circle of life!
ReplyDelete@impressionist: maybe u write a post on celebrating these festivals!!! :D
ReplyDeleteactually i wud love to celebrate love everyday....but i pity my 'bf'...he cant handle one v-day...if the entire life was a v-day...he wud curse himself for falling in love!!!
@Zee...i so didnt think of that...but u r absolutely right!
and i guess u learn to value people more after the 'first' time.
u know wat we keep searching for perfection in people, lovers frnds ,circumstances.. and life.. but Love you know has the power to make evrything seem perfect..
ReplyDeletewonder thats why such an emotion makes so much sense to all of us...
